Being careful what you click! Links on social media are potential threats too!
If you use social media platforms like Facebook, be aware that new threats have emerged where attackers create accounts and make posts with malicious content. These are usually related to high emotion topics such as politics and get people to click on links or watch a video. Those links/video’s/files are then malicious and try to leverage exploits in unpatched software to infect your device.
This could affect phones and tablets as well as laptops and desktops.
These attacks are not new but seem to be increasing.
Be aware and stop and think next time you are looking through posts on social media. Far too often, we don’t stop to think when we run across something that gets you riled up or super interested, and that’s what the attackers want.
